REV. DAWN EARTHSONG
Well, if you are interested in having me officiate
at your wedding ceremony, handfasting or other ritual, I think it's only fair that I tell you a little
about myself.
I currently live in the Columbus, OH area and have lived in the central OH area
since 1993. I'm originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland and I must say that
I truly miss the Atlantic Ocean and the Chesapeake Bay. I am 38 years old and in my 2nd marriage
(to my soulmate). I have 2 sons, a cat and a beautiful dog. I work full-time at the moment, but
I also study Reiki and Sacred Sexuality, facilitate a Pagan Clergy program, and travel around
the country doing various styles of presentations with my husband. I paint, write, x-stitch, make
candles and am VERY social.
I started studying Pagan religions in 1995 when we
connected with the internet. I had always been interested in my Cherokee background but could
never get any information from the family about the heritage. I started devouring all
information I could find on Native American beliefs.
Then I found Wicca and it felt like I had come home.
Again, I went out and found everything I could find on it. I started in the public library, but
any book that sounded interesting, couldn't be found on the shelves. They had all been stolen.
That just made me more determined to find the books that I wanted. So, I started finding people
online that would talk to me and I started meeting a few of them at bookstores in Columbus.
A few years later, I went through a really hard
time where I had to do some work on myself and a lot of healing from my past. I found a womens
group for childhood trauma survivors and she used Shamanic journeying to help us heal. This just
verified in my head that I had found the right path. I've been working on this path slowly every
since.
Then along came January of 2003 and I found
Witchschool.com and the Correllian Tradition and my slow journey became a speeding train. I
devoured all the information I could find on the site, became a lifetime member and took any
and all classes that I could. I learned more from that school then I had in the years before of
studying on my own. So, I worked hard and did the lessons and took the final exam to become a
1st degree Priestess of the Tradition. On 6-20-03 my application for clergy status was approved
and I was sent my certificate. Two days later I mailed in my application to become a minister
recognized by the State of Ohio so that I can solemnize marriages.
Recently, even though I've completed my 3rd degree studies, I've made the
decision to move beyond the Correllian Tradition. I'm constantly wanting to learn more, but feel that I've learned what I can from
that Tradition. After a lot of thought about my path and passions, I created Sacred Flame Temple. I wanted to be a minister of healing. A minister that embraces all styles of
commintment ceremonies. A minister that could do a leather wedding and not have to worry about what a tradition would say about
it. I wanted the freedom to preside over elopements. I wanted to offer people choices with their personal ceremonies. So,
as of 1-4-05 I became licensened with the state through the the Temple. I'm also facilitating a clergy program so that other
can live their dreams.
Now, I'm very excited. It's a dream come true to help
pagans have pagan weddings. It should be a day filled with love, Spirit, beauty and joy!!! Not standing
in line at a courthouse.
